Known as the "Land of Smiles", Thai culture is rich in respect, self control and a non-confrontational attitude. Often embracing a playfulness and sense of fun, family is central to the Thai people. With nearly 70 million people, many of the traditional beliefs stem directly from the Buddhist principles. A country known for its beauty of land and people, Thailand is a source, transit and destination for human trafficking. Ethnic minorities and women from the Northern Hill Tribes are especially at risk often due to poverty and lack of education. The organizations we support in Thailand work to both intervene and prevent trafficking.
