Organization: Tarahumara Baskets
Country: Mexico
The Tarahumara, a group of Indigenous people of the Americas living in the state of Chihuahua, are from the Copper Canyon in Mexico. They were targeted for annihilation and had hidden in the Canyon for generations. But malnutrition, disease, and a high infant mortality rate brought some of them out of the Canyon in search of help. Handcrafting woven baskets from pine needles and grasses, the purchase of these products goes to help provide good, medicine, education, and the hope of new life.
